Prenatal Health

A healthy mother is more likely to have a healthy, full-term baby.

The Prenatal program cares for pregnant women from Montgomery County until they are approximately 36 weeks gestation (about 8 months), dependent upon risk factors and maternal and fetal health issues.  Clients who are deemed to be high risk are transferred to high-risk OB care in the community.  Mothers are able to choose any of the delivering hospitals in the area in which to have their baby.

All pregnant women are encouraged to seek early prenatal care.  Women need to attend prenatal appointments regularly to ensure their health and the health of their unborn baby.

Public Health in the Community

National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW)

NIW April 21st-28th is National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW).

The goal of the Immunization Program is to increase awareness about immunizations across the life span, from infants to the elderly. NIIW is the perfect time to remind family, friends, co-workers, and those in the community to immunize their children, as well as catch up on their own vaccinations.

Public Health-Dayton & Montgomery County holds outreach clinics for children each month.
