Employee Recognition Event

PHDMC’s 17th Annual Employee Recognition Event was held on March 17 at Sinclair Community College. Fittingly, the theme for the event was St. Patrick’s Day!
Approximately 160 employees attended the dinner and awards ceremony. Retiree and service awards were presented to 60 employees. Board of Health President-Elect Dr. Lloyd Laubach also attended and recognized our collective accomplishments. Commissioner Gross ended the event with an inspirational talk about a lesson his parents and siblings taught him as a youth: “If you need to talk about yourself, you’re probably not that good. If you are really that good, other people will talk about you.

Based on our collective efforts to prevent, promote and protect, and our recent Community Health Assessment, Commissioner Gross shared that numerous community partners are “talking about us.” As echoed by singer-songwriter Bonnie Raitt in her 1991 album Luck of the Draw, Commissioner Gross encouraged us to “Let’s Give Them Something to Talk About” and asked us to continue our excellent work.

National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW)

NIW April 21st-28th is National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW).

The goal of the Immunization Program is to increase awareness about immunizations across the life span, from infants to the elderly. NIIW is the perfect time to remind family, friends, co-workers, and those in the community to immunize their children, as well as catch up on their own vaccinations.

Public Health-Dayton & Montgomery County holds outreach clinics for children each month.
