The Water Has To Go Somewhere

Flooding is the nation’s most common natural disaster. Flooding can happen in every U.S. state and territory. Caused in a variety of ways, flooding can develop slowly during an extended period of rain, or in a warming trend following a heavy snow. Flash floods can occur quickly, even without any visible signs of rain. It’s important to be prepared for flooding no matter where you live, but particularly if you are in a low-lying area, near water or downstream from a dam.flood water

Most people are unaware that 66% of flood deaths occur in vehicles, and most happen when drivers make a single, fatal mistake trying to navigate through flood waters. Just six inches of rapidly moving flood water can knock a person down and a mere two feet of water can float a large vehicle.

An unfortunate consequence of heavy rains and water are flooded basements. Property damage and safety hazards can be reduced if you know what to do.
