Violence Prevention Teen Day Celebration

The 18th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Violence Prevention Teen Day Celebration was held on January 17 at the Neon Theatre. The featured movie was “Sarafina”, based on the 1976 Soweto, South Africa uprising/riots involving a series of clashes between black students and authorities.

Participants gained knowledge about methods to diffuse and manage violent behaviors and the beliefs of Dr. Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela.
A total of 200 participants attended.

National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW)

NIW April 21st-28th is National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW).

The goal of the Immunization Program is to increase awareness about immunizations across the life span, from infants to the elderly. NIIW is the perfect time to remind family, friends, co-workers, and those in the community to immunize their children, as well as catch up on their own vaccinations.

Public Health-Dayton & Montgomery County holds outreach clinics for children each month.
