Tuberculosis Program

The Tuberculosis Program controls the spread of tuberculosis (TB) in Montgomery County. We ensure all persons with active TB are completely treated, and we work with community partners to screen individuals who are at high risk for TB.

Screening and Services

  • TB skin tests are provided on a walk-in basis on Monday, Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday and Friday. To schedule an appointment for an evaluation of a positive result, contact the TB Clinic nurse during normal business hours. Providers who need to report an active case of TB or who need information, contact the TB Outreach nurse or the TB Clinic nurse.
  • TB screening efforts are focused on high-risk individuals, including contacts to active TB cases, substance abusers, homeless persons, those who test positive for HIV, those in correctional facilities, and people who come from countries with a high incidence of TB.
  • The TB Program serves as a resource for community-based health care providers seeking information on screening, diagnosing, and treating TB.
  • Refugee health screening exams are provided through a grant agreement with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, under the Refugee Health Program.
Persons at high risk for TB
  • Those from countries where TB is prevalent.
  • Those who are homeless.
  • Substance abusers.
  • Those who live in congregate settings such as correctional facilities, residential treatment centers and long-term care facilities.
  • Those who test positive for HIV.

Public Health in the Community

National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW)

NIW April 21st-28th is National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW).

The goal of the Immunization Program is to increase awareness about immunizations across the life span, from infants to the elderly. NIIW is the perfect time to remind family, friends, co-workers, and those in the community to immunize their children, as well as catch up on their own vaccinations.

Public Health-Dayton & Montgomery County holds outreach clinics for children each month.
