Community Health Assessment Released

Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County has released a comprehensive assessment of the health in Montgomery County. Health Commissioner Jim Gross explains, “This is the first-ever comprehensive look at the health of our community, and frankly, what we see is not good.” The multi-year evaluation involves 20 different sources of data and includes a detailed analysis of chronic health diseases, health outcomes, health disparities, public health system priorities, and specific calls to action to address our many health problems.

The report is filled with both interesting and alarming information about our community. It examines how we as a community are making ourselves sick, and then reveals what we need to do to change the situation.

Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County is mailing out an executive summary of the information in this report to about 1700 community leaders. The information is also available to everyone in PDF format, just click here.

National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW)

NIW April 21st-28th is National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW).

The goal of the Immunization Program is to increase awareness about immunizations across the life span, from infants to the elderly. NIIW is the perfect time to remind family, friends, co-workers, and those in the community to immunize their children, as well as catch up on their own vaccinations.

Public Health-Dayton & Montgomery County holds outreach clinics for children each month.
