Remembering the Dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
MLK Teen Day Celebration Free Movie
Marshall is based on an early trial in the career of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. It is the story of the young lawyer taking a case to defend a black chauffeur falsely charged with sexual assault and the attempted murder of his wealthy, white employer. The trial takes place in the conservative state of Connecticut as Marshall must face a racially-biased court. He partners with a courageous young Jewish lawyer Samuel Friedman, as together they mount the defense in an environment of racism and Anti-Semitism. The high-profile case and the partnership with Friedman served as a model for Marshall’s creation of the NAACP legal defense fund.
