March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month!

Help for problem gambling is available at Addiction Services, Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County.

Gambling can be risky for some individuals and lead to problems. Many suffer in silence because they don’t know or don’t realize that they have a problem.

  • More people gamble in Montgomery County compared to the state (64% vs. 57%)
  • Montgomery County problem gambling rates are also higher than the state rates (3.8% vs. 2.8%)
  • 3.8% translates into an estimated 15,776 individuals struggling with gambling –related problems
  • People ages 18 to 34 were most likely to be at-risk or problem gamblers

We offer:

  • Problem gambling assessments
  • Outpatient treatment services.
  • Education to youth in the community.

Our goals, like that of the National Council on Problem Gambling are to:

  • Raise awareness about problem gambling
  • Educate the community of the warning signs of problem gambling
  • Define and promote responsible gambling behavior
  • Provide resources for help
