Public Health Issues Vaccination Call-To-Action

(9/1/21) - The Montgomery County Board of Health, at today’s meeting, issued a “Call-To-Action” for all employers, schools, and healthcare services to do everything possible to help keep their employees and customers safe, which includes requiring COVID-19 vaccination of their workforces.

“Vaccination is the single best available intervention to prevent COVID-19 disease, to decrease transmission, and to control the epidemic,” said Montgomery County Health Commissioner Jeff Cooper.

Vaccinations have been at the foundation of public health strategy for over a hundred years and the science behind them has been continually developed to the point that we have safe and effective vaccines to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Vaccinations are the first and best step in a multi-layered strategy to stop the spread of COVID-19, which also includes the use of face masks and social distancing.

As an employer and healthcare provider itself, Public Health recognizes the importance of keeping its workforce and clients safe. With that in mind, all Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County employees shall be required to receive an FDA authorized or subsequently approved COVID-19 vaccine by October 15, 2021.
